The GRG121DX features a one-piece maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth inlays and two covered humbuckers with a 3-way selector switch. It is a hard-tail model. For 2018 the rosewood fingerboard was replaced with treated New Zealand pine and bridge was replaced by the F106. For 2019 the 3-way pickup selector was swapped out for a 5-way lever. For 2020 the fretboard was changed to purpleheart. Initial production from 2012 through 2014 was in both China and Indonesia. From 2015 through 2017 it was produced only in Indonesia. From 2018 production was moved to China.
